A Lunch ‘N Learn was held in November, at Genesys Regional Medical Center, concerning the MLA benchmarking project. Jill Van Buskirk, MLA educator, presented the program.

Many MDMLG members attended the MLA sponsored a teleconference, "Sync or Swim: Managing the Flood of PDAs in Health Care", on February 6, 2002, in Ann Arbor for 1.5 CEs.

MDMLG cosponsored a 4-hour MLA CE, with Swets Blackwell entitled Virtual Collection Development, on Tuesday, March 6, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, with 32 participants attending. Jane Pearlmutter, School of Library and Information, University of Wisconsin taught the program. In addition, Swets Blackwell provided an informational luncheon. Participation fee was $35.00

Informational Notes:

Ellen Marks and Sandra Martin have been very helpful in accommodating our computer needs at the Shiffman library computer labs at no cost to the organization. Keep this wonderful facility in mind as you plan future technology classes. The lab has 28 computers with excellent teacher accessories.

Valerie Reid has been invaluable in keeping the MDMLG web page updated with all the CE possibilities, plus all the related registration and directional information. This is a great avenue to utilize in promoting our activities.

Possible ideas for 2002-2003:

Stat REF maybe interested in supporting a CE class in the fall.
QuickDoc training/update sessions as the product is finalized
Infotrac informational session for the support staff
Yearly NLM update and intro classes

Lunch ‘N Learn Ideas:

The changing reference services at Beaumont-RO
How we are all coping with continuous budgeting and cost cutting measures
What’s new and interesting in your library?
How institutions are handling Intra and Inter net websites.
"How did you handle that" type of discussions

Respectfully submitted,
