Compensation & Benefits Committee Annual Report - 2004-2005

Committee Members:

Mary Jo Durivage, Chair
Diane Piskorowski
Cheryl Hayes Gassen

 Objectives:

  1. Review the survey questions and procedures involved in conducting the survey to ensure relevancy and usefulness of the 2006 survey.  Recommend changes to the board for their approval.
  2. Recommend to MDMLG Board that the formal “value” survey normally conducted during the odd years requesting feedback and ideas on modifying the survey be substituted by an informal means such as at a business meeting or posted to the MDMLG mail group or both.
  3. Monitor professional library literature for articles pertaining to librarian salaries, especially that of health sciences librarians.
  4. Assist chair, if needed, in disseminating the results of the 2004 survey.

Accomplishments:

  1. Committee received Board approval to forego the official feedback survey and to conduct it in an informal manner.
  2. Archival material from the inception of the Committee was delivered to Archivist.
  3. Previous Chair Gayle Williams completed the 2004 Report of the Salary and Benefits Survey.  It was posted on the members only section of the MDMLG website.  An e-mail from Ms. Williams to the MDMLG mail group notified members.  Paper copies were not sent out.
  4. Webmaster created a Compensation and Benefits “Resources” page which contains references Committee has identified as being related to the topic of librarian pay.
