Please mark your calendars for our annual Spring General Business meeting and program on April 21, 2026, from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at the Michigan School of Psychology.

We will start the afternoon off with our General Business Meeting, and then follow up with our program, which will be a panel discussion with local librarians that have experience in Systematic Reviews. This should be a wonderful discussion to help anyone interested in getting more involved in Systematic Review work in their organization, or for those that are interested in learning more about Systematic Reviews. Here is our registration form; please fill this out if you plan to attend. Additionally, if you are interested in participating in the panel, please note that here! We still have availability if you would like to be involved in the discussion. We also have a section where you can include any questions you may have for the panel.

There will be a brief general business meeting to start and the program will follow. The program will be a pre-recorded webinar from NNLM Region 7 followed by a discussion.
Hospital Librarians Going Virtual: In this webinar an interactive panel explores the realities of virtual library services in a hospital environment. Panelists will define what virtual library service looks like in their organizations, discuss challenges related to professional development and staff morale while working remotely, and exchange strategies for promoting library services in a virtual context. This webinar offers practical insights for adapting library work in a digital landscape that applies to both hospital and academic librarians. |

MDMLG Fall Program and General Business Meeting
Webinar Topic: Predatory Publishing 101: What Every Medical Librarian Should Know
Medical librarians and other information professionals will learn about predatory publishers and how to identify these types of journals/publishers. The session will provide a brief introduction to the open access movement and how predatory publishing fits into this model. We will talk about the key characteristics of predatory journals and how to identify potential red flags when looking at a publisher’s website. Participants are invited to bring their own examples of questionable journals, and we will provide an opportunity to evaluate examples of journals during the session. We will offer suggested resources for locating reputable open-access journals.

Social Networking Event
The MDMLG Program and Professional Development Committee would like to invite you to an informal, social networking event on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at North End Taproom in Royal Oak, MI.
We have reserved what should be ample space for everyone. The event will begin at 5pm and conclude by 8pm.
Please be aware that while MDMLG is organizing this event, attendees will be responsible for purchasing their own food or drink. The food menu can be found here. They have a large list of beers on tap, but also have ciders, seltzers, and wines on tap as well. A few non-alcoholic options are on tap too: a NA beer, a cold brew coffee and soda. They are dog friendly, though there is only a small patio area out front for pups.
