Promotion of MDMLG Health Sciences Award

Objectives:

Review the 2004 survey and consider revisions recommended by the previous committee chair. If indicated, modify the survey tool.
Distribute the survey to the members of MDMLG by June of 2006, compile data, and report the results of the survey to the membership by the end of the calendar year.
Monitor professional library literature for articles pertaining to librarian salaries, especially those of health sciences librarians.
Submit an annual report and update the committee binder.
Submit appropriate materials to the Archives

Accomplishments:

A committee timeline was submitted to the executive board on March16, 2006. The 2006 survey will be mailed to MDMLG members who manage hospital libraries on June 1. Completed surveys will be due on June 30, 2006.
The survey form used in 2004 was revised. All but the following four benefits were eliminated from the form:

educational assistance
professional dues
professional conference expenses
paid release time for professional development

In addition, the 2006 survey will solicit information on AHIP requirements at members' hospitals.

The MDMLG Compensation & Benefits Resources web page was updated. Marisa Conte compiled an annotated bibliography of salary-related articles and web resources.
