MHSLA Representative Annual Report - 2004-2005

Objectives

  • To represent the Metropolitan Detroit Medical Library Group at the Executive Board of the Michigan Health Sciences Libraries Association.
  • To participate in the decision making process of MHSLA.
  • To provide a communication link between MHSLA and MDMLG.

Accomplishments

MHSLA Board meetings were held at Sparrow Hospital and MLC in Lansing on a bimonthly schedule. Change of venue occurred in March.  The reasoning was that MHSLA should not be reliant on a hospital setting to provide a venue and absorb costs, and that a non member related setting would allow for consistency no matter the employment status of any board member.

The Transitional Board meeting was conducted at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing on November 16, 2004.

Board meetings attended included:
July, September and November 2004
January and March 2005 with Diana Balint representing in May 2005.

Reports, of MDMLG activities and plans, occurring since the last reporting session, were presented at each MHSLA board meeting.

A report, in kind, was presented at each MDMLG board and general meeting, detailing the activities and plans of the state (MHSLA) organization.

Concerns, suggestions and input were relayed to each respective organization.

Plans for the joint MHSLA/Midwest MLA conference in 2008 were finalized with MDMLG being the host regional group.  Sandra Martin was chosen a liaison for the MDMLG/MHSLA sector.

                                                                                    Respectfully submitted,

                                                                                    Marilyn S. Kostrzewski
                                                                                    MHSLA Representative
