President Goals & Objectives 2006-2007

CHARGE:

The President is charged with the following functions:

The President shall preside at all meetings of MDMLG and its Executive Board.
The President shall appoint committee chairs.
The President shall perform all other duties described by these Bylaws and by MDMLG's parliamentary authority.

VISION:

MDLMG has gone through many changes over the past few years. Thinking about what we have done well in the past, my vision for MDMLG is to focus on and build on our strengths of collaboration and networking and to create a mechanism for knowledge transfer.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

In addition to the duties of the office of MDMLG President, outlined in the bylaws and procedural document, my goals for the 2006-2007 association year are as follows:

Build on the December 2005's program on library advocacy and create tools for librarians to assist in advocating for their jobs, departments, and the profession.
Work with the Program and Professional Development committees to provide excellent professional growth opportunities.
Work with the Web committee to maintain the professional status of the listserv and website, and to encourage and guide the growth of the MDMLG blog and calendars.
Assist the Local Arrangements committee of the Midwest Chapter/MLA in planning the 2008 conference.
Continue support for the LIS program and WSU.
Review and possibly update the structure of MDMLG in terms of the Bylaws committee and the Auditor / Financial Review committee. Look into expanding the Web Committee to a Web & Technology Committee.
